Final Report of the Risks of Harm Survey

The report titled “Professional Regulation of the Counselling and Therapy Professions in Manitoba” covers the complex process of professional regulation as it pertains to counsellors and therapists in our province.

Also included in this report are the results of the Risks of Harm Survey that was distributed in Fall 2017. The results of this study indicate an strong interest and need for our profession to be regulated, not only for the well-being of clients, but for the reputation of counsellors and therapists as valuable providers of mental health services.

The purpose of this report is to provide the best possible evidence on risks of harm to the public regarding a lack of regulation of the counselling/therapy profession in Manitoba. The involved members of FACT-Manitoba hope that this submission will provide satisfactory evidence to encourage the government to work towards regulation.
